In 2014, the concrete façade at 1631 Kalorama Road, NW exhibited significant signs of deterioration, so much so that some of the concrete dislodged and fell from the building. A comprehensive investigation revealed that the deterioration was widespread, and not just limited to localized areas of the façade, so we developed specifications and bid documents for a rehabilitation project. The project involved removal and replacement of large portions of the concrete façade, as well as application of a coating and restoration of the architectural metal bands, a defining feature of the building. The project was completed in early 2015.
