The Car Barn is a four-level commercial office building located on M Street in the Georgetown section of Washington, D.C. Sections of the building were constructed in 1895, and as such, it is a designated historic building. The façade consists of brick, stone, and punched wood and aluminum framed window system. Our office conducted a condition survey of the property in 2012, and recommended a comprehensive rehabilitation of the building envelope (façade/windows, roofs, terraces). We generated the design and bidding documents in 2013, and following an extensive permitting process, construction began in 2014. Work on the façade consisted of brick removal/replacement; tuck pointing; sealant removal/replacement; flashing installation; window refurbishment; stone windowsill replacement; and painting. We provided quality assurance inspections and reports throughout construction, and work was finally completed in June, 2015.
